AMEC 2025: JCI Bauchi City President, Wins Star Local President Award in Durban

In a moment of pride for Junior Chambers International JCI Nigeria and the entire Northern region, Tajudeen Taiwo Akintunde, Local President of JCI Bauchi City, has been honoured with the prestigious star local President recognition award at the 2025 JCI Africa and Middle East Conference (AMEC) held in Durban, South Africa.

The star local President award is one of the most coveted honours within the JCI africa & middle east region. It recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation, and community impact demonstrated by Local Presidents across the continent and the middle east. 

According to organizers the award is part of a rigorous selection process that evaluates performance in leadership, local organization growth, impactful projects, international collaboration, and alignment with the JCI mission to develop enterprising young leaders for global change.

Moreso, this highly competitive category, Tajudeen Taiwo Akintunde emerged as a standout, having led JCI Bauchi City with passion, purpose, and excellence. Under his leadership, the local organization experienced a renaissance of visibility, grassroots engagement, cross-border collaborations, and sustainable development-focused initiatives, setting a new benchmark for youth-led impact in Northern Nigeria.

Speaking on the prestigious award, the awardee President Tajudeen expressed deep gratitude to his member at the local level 

“This award is not about me alone — it is for every member of JCI Bauchi City who worked tirelessly with me to make our vision a reality. It is for Northern Nigeria, for young leaders everywhere, and for the spirit of excellence that JCI inspires in all of us. I thank JCI AMEC for this recognition, JCI Nigeria for their guidance, and my incredible team at JCI Bauchi City for their unwavering belief in our shared mission.”

He added that “Leadership is about people, purpose, and persistence. I’m honoured to serve, to learn, and to inspire the next wave of changemakers across our continent.”

Therefore, the AMEC Awards aim to spotlight exemplary leadership, innovation in civic action, and international collaboration among JCI local organizations. The star local President category, in particular, seeks to celebrate local Presidents who not only lead but elevate empowering their communities through transformative initiatives and inclusive engagement.

JCI Bauchi City’s rise under President's leadership has been nothing short of inspiring, from environmental projects and entrepreneurial empowerment to strategic partnerships and cultural diplomacy, the local organization has demonstrated that local action can have global resonance.

Meanwhile, the president throw his special thanks which extended to JCI Nigeria, led by JCIN Amb.
