Clinical Services Moves to PHCs, as Specialist Hospital Upgrade Commences

Patients would be attended at three designated primary heacare centers PHCs within Bauchi metropolis as emergency cases continue within the hospital premises.

The management of the hospital announced this local arrangement following the commencement of full rehabilitation and upgrading of state secondary health facility.

Speaking to journalists, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Abdulkarim Garba Mairiga, said clinical services will continue uninterrupted at three designated locations within Bauchi metropolis.

According to him, general clinical services are now available at Kobi New SDGs Hospital, Urban Maternity Kofar Ran, and Tashan Babiye Primary Healthcare Centre.

He further explained that Accident and Emergency services, Medical Ward, Paediatric Unit, as well as Eye and Ear Clinics have been moved to the New Isolation Centre located at the entrance of Specialist Hospital.

Professor Mairiga added that Tashan Babiye PHC will accommodate the Surgical Department, Gynecology Clinic, Laboratory, Medical Ward, and Pharmacy services.

Similarly, the Maternity Unit, Immunization services, and HIV Clinic are now stationed at Urban Maternity Kofar Ran for easy access by patients.

The CMD appealed to residents to cooperate with the temporary arrangement, noting that the relocation will reduce the hospital’s bed capacity from 350 to less than 100. He however assured that the rehabilitation work has already started and will be completed soon.

Professor Mairiga commended Governor Bala Mohammed for approving the remodeling of the hospital, saying the upgrade will transform Specialist Hospital Bauchi into one of the best healthcare centres in the country.
