SCHOOL RETENTION: UNICEF BFO, Set to Hold Regional Crucial Stakeholders Meeting, on OSC in Gombe

Recalled that according to statistics in previous reports the northeast sub-region in Nigeria was recorded the highest number of out of school children, maybe due to lack of commitment from the parents, stakeholders at different levels, and poverty the mother of all, as well 

Some significant figures of out of school children OSC from the zone is so disheartening, despite efforts in different fora to address the menace, with the view to increase number of enrollment of pupils/children in the region couple with the activities of unpatriotic corrupt citizens as well as lingering insecurity become source of concern 

Against this background the united nations children's fund UNICEF particularly, the Bauchi Field Office will host a two-day Regional Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on the Out-of-School Children and the Retention, Transition and Completion Models in Bauchi, Gombe and Adamawa states. 

The meeting aims to engage stakeholders in these states on the need to expedite efforts on reducing the number of Out of out-of-school children and increase retention, transition, and completion of adolescents girls in secondary schools.

Moreso, the meeting Specifically, will build a collective commitment on creating and implementing models for the reduction of the number of out of school children and increasing retention, transition and completion of adolescent boys and girls in secondary school education.
