Emirs Lauds DGIS-ASWA II Project, UNICEF, in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe, Urged Stakeholders to Reach More Communities

Endline and Local Investment Plan Meeting for the three state of Northeast states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe to address issues of water sanitation and hygiene in some selected wash communities within their local government areas has ended with commendation of Netherlands as sponsors with UNICEF and Nigerian government as implimenting partners for the project throughout the period

The traditional rulers and local government stakeholders was in attendance during the endline meeting held at the Emerald Hotels Gombe, Gombe state Northeast Nigeria 

The emir of Jangere Alhaji Hamza Buba spoke during the meeting appreciated the Netherlands for funding being provided for the execution of the wash project in those three states, he maintained going further for a cleaner Nigeria

 "we need a prosperous Nigeria and we should pray to overcome security challenges and give more wisdom to our leaders and looking forward for a bumper harvest to our people to compliment government effort toward addressing food insecurity in the country"

Presentation was delivered by the representative of the governments from the three states on the issues and areas of concern, success and challenges that needs attention,  and the way forward for sustainability of the project in water sanitation and hygiene for the benefiting local communities 

In his remark the emir of Ngelzarma Alhaji Mohammed Zanna Yeri stressed the important of rubbing minds to tackle  challenges of water sanitation and hygiene wash, while thanking the donors and calls for more efforts to address those gaps in the three states  being identified

While responding on some of the key issues raised  by traditional rulers at the meeting, Emmanuel Easili from Adamawa state says "We are making effort towards that concern raised by one of the representative of traditional institution on how best to address some of these gaps identified as the project come to an end, we will do more especially if we go back to our communities"

So also shortly after the endline meeting with traditional institutions and other local stakeholders, Director water supply and support services federal.ministry of water resources Dr. Nicolas Madudubi representative by Ogbonna Kenneth Assistant Director ( C&P)  explained on the action plan on sustainability urged the stakeholders to leverage on that because in Nigeria,

"most of our water facilities are unsustainable then we adopted accessibility checks, and we are able to discover that, about 46% of our water are unsustainable, so working with UNICEF we are able to develop accessiblily checks report first of it kind in Nigeria and of course globally" he said.
