Taraba State Implements Stringent Measures to Curb Rising Crime in Jalingo

In response to the alarming surge in criminal activities within Jalingo, state capital, the Taraba State Government has enforced a total ban on motorcycles and imposed restrictions on tricycles, between 6:00am and 8:00pm in Jalingo.
The announcement, outlined in an official press release from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, SGS, disclosed that the implementation will be carried out by a Task Force Committee appointed by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, representing the Executive Governor.
The committee, chaired by Taraba State Commissioner of Police Joseph Eribo, comprises members from various agencies, including the Federal Road Safety (FRSC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Taraba Marshal, and the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW- Taraba Branch). Meanwhile, The Secretary of the Home Affairs and Special Services Department will serve as the committee's secretary.
According to the state government, defaulters will face arrest and trial by a Mobile Court, with their motorcycles and tricycles subject to confiscation and destruction as part of the strict measures to enhance security in the state capital.
