Fed. Gov, Proposes Relocation of FAAN, CBN as Northern Senators Kick Against

Federal government has announced the proposed relocation of the headquarters of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other departments of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos the largest commercial nerve city in west African sub-region

Reasons stated is to decongest Abuja and improve working performance in those parastatals, this came after seven months into the new administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a swift reaction the members of the northern Senators Forum kicked against the proposed location says they are determined to disagree with any effort in undermining the Nigerian constitution and shortchanging the will of the people from the northern zone

The senator Ali Ndume Chief Whip of currently in the 10 national assembly the red chamber speaking in a chat with journalists in Abuja says the reason cannot hold water as Lagos is most congested city in Nigeria, instead the federal government should have a rethink, moreover there enough space in the capital city Abuja than Lagos if that should be the case, He stressed.

The Senators maintained "we are assured constituents in the region of our commitments towards addressing concerns regarding certain decisions and policies put forth by the federal government" they added.

Furthermore, the northern Senators have also raised concern over what they described as lopsided allocation of funds in the 2024 budget, calling on their representatives at the National Assembly to raise up against any move to undermine the Northern region of the country
