Public Health: Bauchi Committed to Keep Sugarcane Business Hygienic

In an effort to promote public health and environmental hygiene, Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency Issued four guidelines to sugarcane sellers to improve cleanliness and reduce the risk of being contracted with related disease and safety of the people
The guidelines were issued on Saturday when the Director General of the Agency Dr Ibrahim Kabir MNES, FSEPH, FIICA, MISPON led environmental experts to the sugarcane market within the metropolis.
According to the Dr Ibrahim, His Excellency Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Kauran Bauchi, gives more priority on the issue of environmental sanitation and hygiene and he is freeing resources to deliver it's mandates of keeping the state clean and healthy.
Basepa Boss added that the guidelines were carefully designed with the view to promote public health and hygiene, and also to maintain the ecstatic and beauty of the state capital
And ensure that the sugarcane vendors create more value to the business not only here in the metropolis but to the entire state as a whole, while calling on them to comply with the authority's advice to achieve target goals and objectives.
While announcing the guidelines which include the following, (every sugarcane vendor must move around with a basket in his pushcart to avoid littering and dispose properly at the designated collection centers along major roads).
He must also provide (a clean water container for watering the sugarcane while moving from one place to the other
Others are, a they must also cover the sugarcane with polythene bag for the protection from dust and other contaminants) and he must also possess an (identity card for easy identification) saying that the Idea will help towards
formalising the sector; informing the vendors that in collaboration with the leadership of the sugarcane vendors sellers association to achieve such target
The Director General also appreciates the traders for always cooperating and supporting the Agency's programs and policies on environmental cleanliness and hygiene,
Adding that he will ensure that, "whatever supports or opportunity come either from the government or donor Agencies reached the actual actors of the sugarcane business, people who are into creating value chain to the waste generation from the sugarcane"
Dr Kabir added that, all the initiatives introduced by the Agency are in line with the current administration initiative of "My Bauchi Project" target to bring in programs and policies for sustainable solutions for the development of the State.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Chairman of the sugarcane sellers and vendors association Adamu Musa appreciate the agency for considering their business while promoting health and environmental hygiene and cleanliness,
However, members of sugarcane sellers assures their full compliance of the new guidelines calling on the government to include their association in all government activities.
Other members of the association who spoke during the interaction requested for the provision of Water source, in addition with toilet facilities and a Vehicle for the use of the association
Meanwhile they congratulated His Excellency the Governor, over his victory at the supreme court on Friday
Dr. Ibrahim and his entourage inspect the market, for a possible suitable location for the provision of toilet facility, and promised to take their requests about their water source challenges as well as the vehicle to the appropriate channel
