Governor Bala Appoints High-Powered Committee for the Creation of Emirates, Chiefdoms & Districts

Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the appointment of a high-powered committee to review and appraise all memoranda received in line with the defined criteria and oversee the process of determining deserving Emirates, Chiefdoms, and Districts.

This was contained in a press release from the government through the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, issued to journalists on Monday.

According to the statement, the committee shall be guided in all its recommendations by equity and fairness while ensuring socio-political inclusiveness and financial sustainability for the Emirates, Chiefdoms, or Districts to be created.

It further revealed that this is a bold move to deepen grassroots governance, preserve cultural heritage, and promote inclusivity across traditional institutions in the state.

However, the release explained the composition of the committee, which comprises as follows:
