The Bauchi state government has offered one hundred 100 female a contract skilled birth attendants (SBAs) under the Immunization Plus & Malaria Process by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT Project) to help address the gap in the healthcare system at the selected primary healthcare centers PHCs throughout the state.
This was disclosed to journalists by the state manager of the IMPACT Project Adamu Mohammad during the one day orientation of the newly contracted SBAs held at the Primary Healthcare Board ran road Bauchi on Saturday.
He says the selection of participants and the training program is to remind them on what is expected of them geared towards improving health care delivery in collaboration with the state primary healthcare board.
Adamu Mohammad explained that, "the intervention of skilled birth attendance is one of the strategies that the IMPACT Project is employing in order to actually bridge the gaps in healthcare service delivery in the state, you know the IMPACT project is doing a lot, is already upgrading one hundred and twenty three 124 healthcare centers providing them with all basic equipments that is needed to function putting boreholes, accomodations, solar, etcetra.
He maintain that, "all this basic equipments cannot work if you don't have human resources that is why in order to bridge this gap we have decided to engaged one hundred 100 Midwives, and female chews and community midwives".
They have already been posted to various remote health facilities,caddying that, "nobody is going to work in the metropolitan either at the LGA or the city of the state or all of them are going to deploy to remote villages, the 100 selected from the full of the volunteers that we have in the state, working in the facilities what we did is gap analysis and identify the facilities in dear need of human resources that is why we engaged them". He emphasized.
IMPACT manager, continue that, we expected them to work in the maternity 24 hours they will conduct delivery support they will support antenatal care ANC and post natal as well as family planning service so this is the category we engaged, the process they will come and do the orientation and documentation and go to places of their work,
Adamu Muhammad maintained that, "this is just one of the interventions earmarked, very soon we are going to launch 3 antenatal service delivery in the state across the all 212 PHCs in the state in Bauchi state, we are also going to commission 20 new procured ultrasound scan machines the most current ultrasound machine that you can see every where in the world, is a 4D machines and they would be distributed to all 20 general hospitals in the state". He annouced.
