The Bauchi state governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has pledged to improve sports activities with a total overhaul of all existing sports facilities across the twenty local government areas of the state.

The governor was represented by the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Adamu Babayo Gabarin, through the overseeing Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abdullahi Ibrahim, at the ongoing Bauchi Sports Festival on Thursday.

He said the state government has already rolled out plans to renovate Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

"Let me inform this gathering that His Excellency, during our budget presentation, he categorically said, in the first quarter of the coming year 2026, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, multipurpose indoor sports hall, swimming pool complex, games village, and recreational center in Babangida Square will be fully renovated," Ibrahim continued.

"Our dynamic governor, youth and sports governor, going by the happenings, so many successes were recorded as a ministry. There were a lot of activities that involved youth engagements; it was fully funded by this administration.

Likewise, not even Wikki, as you know, recently they just came back to the premier league and they are doing their best, and all the activities that involve our governor are funded, be it state-wise or at the national or internationally."

For these laudable achievements, and we hope to see more, insha Allah, we will continue to partner with all the sectors of the government to see that Bauchi maintains its name (Mekka of Sports). I thanked all the media for being with us," he added.
