Abubakar Haruna, popularly known as Coach Uche, a distinguished sports figure from Bauchi State, on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, His Royal Highness Alhaji(Dr) Rilwanu Suleiman CFR Adamu, to seek royal prayers and blessings following his instrumental role in Nigeria’s Super Falcons continental triumph.

The visit, held at the Emir’s Palace, was led by Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Askiya, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, who described Coach Uche as “a proud son of Bauchi who has brought honour to the state and the nation.”

Alhaji Askiya highlighted Coach Uche’s dual contributions to Nigerian football. He is a key member of the technical crew of Wikki Tourists Football Club, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and also serves as a technical member of the Super Falcons, contributing significantly to the team’s performance, including the goalkeeper’s training and overall tactical preparations.

He further noted that Coach Uche’s expertise was instrumental in Nigeria clinching a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, following a 2–1 victory over hosts Morocco in the final held in Rabat.

Among the delegation accompanying him were Tafida Galadima Ado Ibrahim, Chairman of the Bauchi State Sports Council; Alhaji Nasiru Abdullahi Kobi, Media Officer of Wikki Tourists Football Club; Abba Zico; Bala Riski; Alhaji Nasiru Captain;  and Yahaya Wali, who all joined to honour and celebrate Coach Uche’s remarkable achievements.

In his remarks, Coach Uche expressed gratitude to the Emir for the royal audience and blessings.

“I never imagined a day would come when I would be part of the national team and contribute to winning honours for my country. I am deeply grateful to Your Royal Highness for your prayers, blessings, and encouragement,” he said.

Responding, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, commended Coach Uche for his dedication, professionalism, and patriotism. Observing the large crowd that accompanied him, the Emir remarked:

“Seeing the crowd that has come with you today proves that you are at peace with your family, friends, and supporters. You have brought pride and honour to Bauchi State. We shall continue to pray for your success and for more of our sons and daughters to follow your example.”

The visit underscores Bauchi State’s growing influence in Nigerian football, celebrating Coach Uche’s achievements at both club and national levels, and highlighting his pivotal role in shaping the future of the country’s football landscape.
