Bauchi Gov. Begins Major Road Repairs as Zero–Pothole Project Reaches Azare

The Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA) has launched its Zero–Pothole Initiative in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area, marking a renewed effort by the Bauchi State Government to address widespread road damage and improve transportation within the state.
Speaking at the flag-off, BASIDMA’s Director-General, Engr. Abdulrahman Mai Auduga, said the programme will prioritise roads facing structural challenges under the TT system noting that the initiative aims to deliver smoother, safer and more reliable routes for motorists and pedestrians.
Engr. Mai Auduga noted that the rehabilitation effort forms a key part of the government’s broader strategy to reduce road accidents, ease movement within communities, and enhance public access to essential services across Bauchi State’s urban and rural locations.
He stressed that BASIDMA will intensify monitoring of deteriorating roads across towns and local government areas, ensuring that necessary repairs are carried out promptly. According to him, the initiative reflects government’s commitment to responsive infrastructure management statewide.
The Director-General added that the Zero–Pothole Initiative will significantly improve living conditions in Azare and beyond. He assured residents that the agency remains dedicated to ensuring durable road networks, enhancing economic activities and supporting safer mobility for all citizens.
