The 2nd Edition of gymnastics championship 2015 supported by the wife of the governor Dr. Aisha Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed kicks started in Bauchi state with renewed hope for young talents across North-east region
The championship organized by the Gymnastics federation of Nigeria with participating young gymnastics players in Bauchi and the Northeast.
The representative of the athletic, gymnastics federation of Nigeria, Michael Adamu Yakubu, says "the event is a good initiative that would encourage and support young talents who has the passion for the sports activities in the zone. Obviously we in support of this and believe it would raise grassroots in Bauchi and the whole zone.
"And the athletes also from Plateau state which is from the North, so is very strategic , and am so happy, I want to thank her Excellency for this great opportunity given to the young ones",
Musa Garba the zonal chairman encourage more participants, as according him, state is like Borno or Yobe can host the championship, it will be a good development, and we are doing this for the sake of our youth, even in the recent past, at the national youth games some of them won medals at the different categories.
"My advice is for the youth to come out for such opportunities, just like me I joined since under 13 together with my education, if you combined with education It would be better up to benefit as well", He maintained.
The state chairman Bala Juwara noted that, "by organizing such we discovered a lot of talented players across the region to compete favourably with their counterpart from other part of the country, my advise dto the m us to Play safe and avoid taking drugs" he said.
So also the youth participants expressed hope and confidence they will compete and won here, so that the can represent the zone at the national level with their physical and mental strength as well as support form the government and their parents as well.
The zonal gymnastics championship will last for five days and the winners will represent the Northeast at the national level soon.
