Arrangements Has Been Concluded to Conduct By-Election in Shira LGA--BASIEC

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission BASIEC Chairman Alhaji Ahmad Makama says all arrangement has been concluded to conduct by-election of local government chairman and his deputy in Shira Local Government Area on May 24th, 2025.
He made the announcement on Thursday during a media briefing on the preparation so far towards the success of the by-election
He said it become imperative for the commision to hold an election within the stipulated date to conduct election on a vacant elected position in the state, following the vacancy position sent to them by the appropriate authority in the office of the local government Chairman after they were impeached by the local council members over what they described as maladministration of their offices recently.
So also, Alhaji Makama said the commission has concluded arrangements for the training of ad-hoc staff and other engagements to ensure the success of the by-election.
He called on security agencies, political parties, journalists, and other stakeholders to support the commission in conducting free and fair credible local government by-election elections.
Makama maintained that, by this announcement the campaign for a political parties candidates kicked started immediately to allow members to woe electorate to go and vote for candidate their choice from different political parties that filled in candidates for the by-election.
He said as usual all sensitive materials for the by-election would be distributed to designated local government wards for onward takeoff to the poling units as the electoral act provided in the state.
