Troops Capture Suspected Boko Haram Terrorist in Taraba State.

In a significant milestone in the fight against terrorism, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected member of the Boko Haram Terrorist group, identified as Gambo Grema, also known as Gamboi.

The arrest was made on January 26, 2025, in Mai-Hula town, Bali Local Government Area, following actionable intelligence. Preliminary investigations revealed that Grema was part of a syndicate deployed by Boko Haram to Taraba State to engage in kidnapping for ransom and establish a new cell within the state.

While confession, the Terrorist's during questioning, Grema confessed to being part of the syndicate, which also harbored members of the Islamic State In West Africa Province (ISWAP) deployed from the Timbuktu Triangle to carry out other criminal activities.

Military's commitment to peace and security, the Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their commitment to ensuring peace and security in Taraba State. He assured the public that the military remains resolute in its mission to maintain peace and stability in the region.

In a call for public cooperation, General Uwa urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations. This arrest marks another success in the military's efforts to curb the activities of insurgents in Nigeria's northeast and neighboring regions.
