Revered Scholar Sheikh Dahiru Leaves Indelible Legacy on Teaching the Holy Qur'an -- Gbenga Hashim
By Adamu IMAM, Bauchi
GBENGA OLAWEPO-HASHIM, a presidential hopeful in the coming 2027 general elections in Nigeria, has commended the late revered scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, for his exemplary leadership through the teaching of the Holy Book (Quran).
He made the commendation while leading his team on a condolence visit to the Sheikh's family in Bauchi state on Friday.
Gbenga Hashim explained that what Sheikh Dahiru did during his lifetime is very hard to find in someone like him today, because of his acumen and dedication to teaching and preaching the Islamic religion, not only in Bauchi, but in the whole of Nigeria and indeed African countries as well.
He further mentioned that they were in Bauchi to pay their last respects and condole the immediate family and the entire people and government of Bauchi state.
"Sheikh always wanted the unity of Christians and Muslims, peace and stability of the country, so he leaves an exemplary life. We want to commend this pattern of life to other clerics, to make sure their preaching is to unite the people rather than to divide them. So, we came to condole and pay our tribute to the legacy of this departed cleric," he said.
The presidential hopeful prayed that the remains of Sheikh Dahiru be blessed, and that Almighty Allah will give the family the fortitude to bear the loss, and the entire Muslim ummah across the world.
Before his departure, Gbenga visited some places and culminated with meetings with like minds and some People's Democratic Party (PDP) youth stakeholders in Bauchi, to align with them for his intention to be the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2027.
While speaking with journalists after his meetings, Gbenga Hashim disclosed that tackling the unemployment rate in the country through different means is what matters most now, as part of an effort to curtail insecurity, because, according to him, Nigerians are suffering from poverty through the lack of jobs at hand.
He maintained that if elected as President of Nigeria, many problems would be solved because of his business experience and leadership qualities, under private sector-driven economy.
"First, is to address insecurity, not only through the armed forces, but also by addressing the root of insecurity, that is, creating jobs for teeming unemployed," he said.
"When Ahmadu Bello was there, the textiles were working in northern Nigeria. Now, there is mass unemployment. I have been in the private sector, creating jobs for thirty-four years, so I know how to create jobs, and this is going to be my priority."
