A coalition of minority tribes in Bauchi State has thrown its weight behind former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, popularly known as Makama Babba, urging residents to adopt him as the right choice for governor in the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by Mbami Iliya Sabka on behalf of the group, the concerned tribes described Abubakar as a proven democrat whose leadership between 2015 and 2019 was marked by humility, fairness, and dedication to good governance.

The group praised his administration’s achievements, noting that civil servants enjoyed prompt payment of salaries, the business community accessed loans and economic support, while both physical and human development were recorded despite limited resources.

According to the statement, “It is proven beyond doubt that His Excellency is not a corrupt leader. Instead, he is a democrat who leads with fairness, respect for ideology, and without bias. His track record shows that he understands the needs of the people and governs with sincerity of purpose.”

The group appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the ruling party to consider Abubakar as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for Bauchi in 2027, insisting that he remains “the right man for the job” and the best hope for continuity in progress.

“As 2027 draws near, we strongly urge the people of Bauchi State to give M.A. Abubakar the chance to return and complete his second four-year term as governor. Indeed, Makama Babban is the angel we know—and he is far better than the angel we don’t know,” the statement added.

The endorsement marks an early call for the return of the former governor, signaling a potential political re-entry into Bauchi’s 2027 governorship race.
