Katsina, September 22, 2025 – Wikki Tourists’ struggles on the road continued on Matchday 5 of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, as they fell 1–0 to Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

The only goal of the contest came in the 16th minute, when Katsina United captain Usman Barau powered home a header from a corner kick to give the hosts the advantage.

Wikki Tourists created several opportunities through Lewis Dadong and Ahmed Lamido, but wasteful finishing and a lack of precision in front of goal left them without reward. The Tourists also had two goals disallowed, further compounding their frustration. Katsina United remained disciplined in defence, absorbing pressure and relying on quick attacks. Wikki goalkeeper Mohammed Gambo produced a fine save late in the second half to keep the scoreline narrow.

The result moved Katsina United into fifth place with 9 points, while Wikki Tourists slipped to ninth with 7 points from five matches.

Wikki Tourists will return to Bauchi on Sunday, 28th September, for a crucial NPFL clash against Rangers International, while Katsina United face a trip to Yenagoa to take on Bayelsa United.
