A concerned citizen, Muhammad Zangina, has written an open letter to the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Jalingo, Taraba State, requesting the cancellation of certain charges imposed on patients.

The letter, which applauds the Medical Director's efforts in transforming the hospital into a global standard medical institution, highlights three specific charges that are causing concern: wound dressing (N500 per ward patient every day), catheterization of patients (N500 per ward patient every insertion), and feeding tube insertion (N500 per ward patient every insertion).

Zangina argues that these services are part of the primary duties of nurses on duty and should be rendered free of charge to patients. He also noted that these charges are causing discord between patients' relatives and nurses, as they are not properly included in the payment schedule.

The concerned citizen recounts a scenario where a patient's relative was asked to pay N500 every day for wound dressing, despite already paying for bed fees and other hospital charges. He suggests that such "unprofessional and inconvenient services" should be looked into urgently.

Zangina's letter concludes by thanking the Medical Director for her efforts in ensuring better healthcare delivery in Taraba State and beyond, and expressing hope that his request will be given due consideration.

The FMC Jalingo is one of the leading tertiary healthcare institutions in the state, with a vision to provide quality and timely clinical and other supportive services to patients.

The hospital has undergone significant transformations in recent years, with a focus on improving healthcare delivery and patient satisfaction.
