CNG Reaffirms Commitment For North, Under Tax Reform Bills

Coalition of Northern Group have recalled the national assembly and the executive arm of the federal government to recheck the vertical and horizontal derivation formular under tax reform bill for fairness and justice and the controversial VAT should be reverse to the initially formula for the benefit of all Nigerians especially the downtrodden.

The National chairman of the coalition Comrade Jamilu Charanchi while speaking during an emergency press conference in Bauchi state says despite effort made by the states governors the group rejects the second plan by the Nigerian law makers to allow the bill to pass.

The group however, while commending Nigerian Governors forum for their tireless effort in championing a morning equitable VAT sharing formula noting that the revised formula of 50% based on equality 30% base on derivation and 20% on population is welcome development from the earlier lopsided proposal of 20% on equality.

They also maintained that, the adjustment would foster unity fairness so that no region will be left behind.

However, CNG further observed that, they remains deeply concern about such controversial aspect that pose severe implications for ordinary Nigerian.

Jamilu Charanchi further revealed that, their prayers is to continue mobilization against the defunct TETFUND, NASENI and NITDA as according to them they are critical institutions in advancing education innovations with technological development.

While reiterating their call to the national assembly for their responsibility as all eyes on them, to be brave and stand firm to protect the interest of the people just as governors have courageously fought their battle which led to a new fair and acceptable VAT formula.

CNG further stated categorically to all national assembly law makers particularly those from the north that are supporting the bill without recourse to amending the identified loopholes and anomalies or, being indifferent is a crime against the people to the people and for the people which we would not hesitate to mobilise the people to confront them at the appropriate time.

While closely monitoring the development CNG reaffirmed its commitment to opposing all anti- people politics that increase economic hardship for Nigerians, while the coalition remains steadfast in advocating for policies that prioritized transparency equity and the well being of citizens.
