Bauchi Gov, Open Discussion on LG Autonomy, Way Forward

Prior to the expiration of deadline of 31st December, 2024 for local government autonomy to be fully implemented by January 2025 announced by the federal government, following the ealier judgement by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Bauchi state government opened discussion meeting with relevant key stakeholders to receive input on the way forward for the commencement of full implementation of local government autonomy.
Briefing journalists shortly after the two day discussion meeting at the new Banquet Hall government house Bauchi the secretary to the state government Alhaji Aminu Hammayo stated that they discussed issues of local government administration, revenue, and other structures all are part of the what was presented extensively.
The SSG Hammayo stressed that, the state governor has felt the necessity for us as a state to look at issues around local government autonomy in order to have a frame work that would guide us in the implementation of the autonomy,
"Qusquently, the meeting was a round table was conveyed which we had throughout the day having his excellency and his deputy and members of his cabinet, the meeting has a number of papers presentation, around local government administration, perhaps around perspective we have interns of going forward when the implementation is done" he said.
"The presentation has elicited a lot of reactions which included inputs and organizations into the process and these were taking note of which will form act a bill, being proces to the state house of assembly to defined how local government administer would be in the state first thing in implementation"
Two to third bills were presented draft closely by the Honourable commissioner of justice a law for local government administration 2024, a law for acquired for the state, and these two laws were presented and then we would do everything taking into consideration,
Consequently, the law would be presented to state assembly for consideration, and what is important is that his excellency has opened up the issue for discussion, as I said we have received a lot of inputs from the various perspectives that we have, the perspectives of the LG chairmen as the key operators of LG administration the perspectives of state assembly who are mainly responsible for laws governing the Admin LGs and from us the members of the executive who also work in synergy and partnership with LGs and State," he added.
That is what we have done today and in the Next couple of days by the grace of God will be presented at the state house of assembly for consideration.
