Bauchi Gov. Recovers 10 Vehicles, N8m Diverted by Previous Administration --SPCCC

The state government through its public complaints and anti corruption commission has recovered over eight million naira 7 Vehicles amounting to 136,419,000 and 641,000,000 suspected to be diverted by previous government officials as well as one hilux van and a Toyota jeep and Toyota Corolla 2.0.

The chairman of the commission Rtd. DIG Sani Usman Mohammed made the disclosure while briefing journalists at the just concluded ministerial press briefing. and also made available to journalists yesterday Saturday by the information officer of the commission Auwalu Isa Kafi 

The Bauchi state public complaints and anti corruption commission was established in 2022  and has the power to investigate complaints lodged before it by individuals or any administration i.e ministries, departments, agencies, parastatals.

It also has power to investigate any officer under the criminal law of the state in relation to corruption and financial crimes, abuse of office, offences relating to administration of Justice, obtaining property by false pretenses and many more.

Chairman of the commission Rtd DIG Sani Usman Mohammed mni said the recoveries made might seem small, but that is just the beginning as all the alleged offences are still under investigation.

He said nature of the alleged offences centered on conspiracy, diversion public funds and abuse of office.

Others include diversion of government property, trespass and land encroachment among others.

Rtd DIG Sani Usman Mohammed added that the alleged cases were reported through intelligence, complain letters and through some government offices.

The chairman of the commission said soon they will embark on workshops for local government staff to remind them on the do's and dont's of the service with a view to avoiding corruption and holding them responsible in case of breach of law.

He commended the state government through the ministry of information and communication for organizing the briefing saying his doors remain open to journalists and the general public in case of clarification and information about the commission.
